"Before Clos Rougeard purchased their legendary chenin parcel on the hill of Brézé, the white wine from this iconic domaine was produced from the venerable “Les Poyeux” vineyard. Today, Les Poyeux is almost exclusively planted to cabernet franc but Fabien’s mother's family still owns a mere 8 ares of chenin (0.08 hectare) and, as far as we know, he is the only person making a single parcel bottling of Les Poyeux Blanc. The wine is fermented and aged on the lees in used oak barrels. The resulting wine captures the unique, delicate limestone signature of the vineyard. Only 10-12 barrels produced each year."
