100% Nebbiolo (60-year old vines).
The Odderos have sourced this wine from vines in the Bricco Chiesa MGA, the vineyard that rises from the Odderos’ driveway in Santa Maria di La Morra up the slope and wrapping around the Chiesa Santa Maria church, a virtual monopole of the family’s.
There is also a portion of vines in this cuvee from Capalot. You can see those as you go left around the curve heading up La Morra hill past the giant red bench in Santa Maria, right under the (highly recommended) Eremo di Gasprina restaurant and inn.
The final touch comes from the two hectares the Odderos farm in the Fiasco MGA in Castiglione Falletto- the same Fiacso as the famed Scavino (Paolo and Azelia) parcels abutting Villero and Brunella.
Vinified separately from these 3 vineyards and aged for 30 months before being blended and rested in bottle for 6 months.
Critic Tasting Notes: "The 2019 Barolo opens to a lean appearance with a very vibrant Nebbiolo color that shines with dark ruby highlights. There is dried cherry and candied fruit aromas on the bouquet. Those fruit layers cede to light spice, lilac and campfire ash. The beauty in this wine is the extreme balance achieved in this classic vintage. It delivers on all levels: intensity, length and joy. The fruit represents a blend of four MGS sites: Bricco Chiesa and Capalot in La Morra, Fiasco in Castiglione Falletto and Monvigliero in Verduno." - 95 pts, Monica Larner (The Wine Advocate)
